In an interview with Democracy Now on March 2, 2007, U.S. Retired 4 star General Wesley Clark explains that the war profiteers planned a “Policy coup” to “pre-emptively” attack 7 countries in 5 years including: Iraq, Syria, Lebanon, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, and IRAN Video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TY2DKzastu8
“Our real enemies are not those living in a distant land whose names or policies we don’t understand; The real enemy is a system that wages war when it’s profitable, the CEOs who lay us off our jobs when it’s profitable, the Insurance Companies who deny us Health care when it’s profitable, the Banks who take away our homes when it’s profitable. Our enemies are not several hundred thousands away. They are right here in front of us.” – Mike Prysner, Iraq War Veteran http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Michael_Prysner
“This latest development takes place in the context of recent media reports that Israel may attack Iran before the US presidential elections in hopes it will draw the US and possibly other NATO countries into the conflict http://www.ottawapeace.org/
The harper government has suspended diplomatic relations with Iran, raising serious questions about whether this is a prelude to war.
The recent International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) report contains very little new information and still does not draw the conclusion that Iran is building a nuclear weapon. The report cites a series of tests that may be used for civilian or military purposes but doesn’t point to any proof of the existence of a nuclear weapons program. It is instead a collection of unverified intelligence reports from “member states”.
Regardless of the findings in the report, any use of military force against nuclear installations in Iran will be dangerous and illegal under international law and must therefore be opposed.
